Sri Lanka Vesak 2009

Vesak is the most important day of the Buddhist calender. This day is special because of the birth, enlightenment and passing away (Parinirvana) of Buddha.

In younger days we used to create Vesak koodu (Lantern) using bamboo sticks but these days things are very different.

Sri Lanka Vesak 2008

Vesak is on 19th this year, the Vesak mood is not there because of the war. There were few bomb explosions in these couple of months, so people are afraid to go out and enjoy the Vesak Joy (Thoran, Vesak Lantens, Vesak Kudu). Hope this war end quickly.
